Twilight Suitcases: Mainz
2024
Intermedia Installation
Suitcases, 2-channel video and 4-channel audio
Twilight Suitcases uses audiovisual data collected from sunsets around the world. At each new location, I photograph a blank piece of paper every minute during sunset to catch the light reflection and see how it evolves without any other type of information. These photographs are displayed on three video strips, gradually revealing the light transformation over time.
The soundscape of each site is recorded and analyzed to recover, in the form of pure tones, the main frequency component of every minute. By playing side by side different reinterpreted versions, the project explores the ways in which time scales are experienced.
