40 Melodies is a performance in which the phrase “time may change me” becomes the melodic material of the piece. The phrase is written out 40 times, and each instance is perforated along the strokes of its letters, producing the 40 melodies that make up the work. The piece also addresses the moral judgments attached to the way we use time in modernity, giving rise to expressions like “killing time” or “wasting time”.

The performance took place during the SĪM residency and was supported by the European Union and the Goethe Institute.
